AMT Coffee was created in 1992 by the three McCallum-Toppin brothers for one sole purpose - to provide the best cup of coffee in the UK.
When Alistair arrived in Oxford from Seattle, he noticed that real coffee was nowhere to be found so he immediately asked his two brothers Angus and Allan to join him in creating AMT Coffee-a new and unique top quality coffee company, which would be named after their and their fathers initials, AMT Coffee was created.
Back then as real takeaway coffee was not part of every day life, their business struggled. Regardless, the brothers passionately fought on to keep their dream alive believing, like their loyal customers, that one day AMT Coffee would succeed.
In 1994, their first rail site was secured in Oxford which was an instant success as commuters had been crying out for real coffee however, the brothers faced a new challenge by way of a giant rival which had little interest in providing Oxford's commuters with quality, value or service. It was a classic David and Goliath battle and when the commuters heard about the potential closure of their new AMT Coffee Bar there was uproar and ultimately, the decision was reversed saving AMT Coffee.
Although at present, there few Stations or Airports without some sort of a 'coffee' kiosk, the real coffee connoisseurs know that whenever they see the original, distinctive, AMT coffee bar, they will be served the best coffee in the UK.
Today, Alistair, Allan and the rest of us are looking forward to serving you tomorrow.
Welcome to AMT Coffee.
